On the Brenta Dolomites, most mountain restaurants offer regional specialties. Two types of dumplings, canederli (large bread dumplings typically flavored with speck, a dry, cured ham served in a Dordle broth) and strangolapreti (smaller spinach dumplings often served in a sauce of melted butter), are examples of dishes with an Austrian heritage. Goulash, in both its soup and stew forms, and apple strudel are two popular desserts in the region.
Ristorante Viviani located near Pradalago’s top for hikers and cabin lift riders (purchase the Dolomeet Guest Card for unlimited use of lifts). This waterside restaurant offers self-service, conventional, and bar eating. All three close in the summer. This well-lit, mountain-themed dining room is airy and comfortable. This restaurant’s broad assortment of spaghetti sauces keeps me coming back. Customers can enjoy a broad selection of beverages and homemade desserts like tiramisu. On the big wooden deck, you can eat while admiring the valley and Grosté and Spinale peaks. It’s almost lunchtime. Refresh, then explore Malghette or the town.
Palace of Zeledria Casino
Casino Zeledria is a family-run restaurant on a farm, but the two establishments couldn’t be more different from one another if they tried. The restaurant’s excellent cheese selection is just one example of the farm-to-table philosophy that permeates the menu. On the menu, you’ll find a variety of hearty regional specialties, many of which highlight a regional staple: polenta. Polenta cakes were a staple food for the Roman army as they marched, and they continue to be a staple food for local farmers and woodsmen. The special lasagne at this restaurant is excellent, mountain and you should definitely order it if you dine there. The farm store is worth a quick look before you head out. Trentingrana Parmesan, a local variety of parmesan, is not to be missed.
Cabin at Malghette Lake (Rifugio)
The walk to Rifugio Lago Malghette, which is located on a beautiful lake, is well worth it because of the excellent food and breathtaking scenery. Nonetheless, returning to Madonna di Campiglio is a one-way trip that can only be made on foot. Cascina Zeledria and the hotel’s Casa del Campo restaurant are two good places to stop for a rest as you approach the town. While the latter is located on the side of the road, diners sitting at the outdoor tables can enjoy a view of the golf course and lake in the valley below. It’s also ideally situated close to a bus stop for transport back to the heart of town (ask at your hotel about the Trentino Guest Card, which provides free transportation on local public buses).
We recommend the Ristorante Bar and Cinque Laghi.
You’ll feel like you’re on top of the world from the moment you step out onto the terrace outside the Ristorante Bar and Cinque Laghi at the very top of the Cinque Laghi cabin lift and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and lush valley below. In addition to its spacious main dining area, mountain this establishment also offers a bar. If you have the stamina, take a break here and enjoy a tasty self-service lunch after walking back from the shorter walk to Lago Ritorto or the longer Five Lakes walk.
