Braces are often an essential part of orthodontic treatments, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore the colors of your braces and other accessories. If you have braces, there are some color combinations that will work better than others to complement your look and keep you from looking like you’re in costume from the past! The chart below shows the best and worst color combinations, depending on the material and style of your braces. What colors to avoid for braces
The different types of braces have a color that works best and worst for them. For example, metal braces need to be made from a lighter color because otherwise they are more likely to break. With Invisalign, there are no metal brackets so any color will work as long as it’s clean and neat. If you’re wondering what colors not to get with braces because your children want certain ones or if you like certain colors better than others then here is a guide on what colors not to get
What colors are best for braces
From my perspective as an orthodontist, I usually recommend that people wear white-colored braces for their braces color wheel. White is one of my favorites because it doesn’t get stained and it’s easy to clean. Another good option is clear, which isn’t a color but actually translucent—this makes them nearly invisible once they are fitted on your teeth. If you still want a colored option, we would suggest getting red or blue; these colors aren’t likely to stain but if they do, it won’t be obvious. Red is more noticeable than blue but not in a bad way—it just looks like you have cool teeth! They look really nice in photos too!
Eye Color and Dental Health
It’s not just teeth that can be affected by an eye color change, though. It turns out that our eyes are a pretty good indicator of overall health. A 2011 study in The Journal of Dentistry for Children showed a correlation between light-colored eyes and cavities in children as young as one year old! Whether it’s because of poor oral hygiene, nutritional issues or other health problems, it’s important to be aware of your eye color and what they might be telling you about your dental health. If you have lighter colored eyes, ask your dentist if you should be more diligent about brushing and flossing than darker-eyed peers.
Smiles Are Symmetrical by Nature
While nobody’s perfect, your teeth will look better when they are. Teeth that are crooked make a smile seem off. However, wearing braces is not for everyone. In fact, there are a number of considerations you should take into account before deciding if braces make sense for you. For example, you may be considering braces only because you want to improve your appearance or because people have been suggesting it. That’s great! There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good. As a matter of fact, they can help improve your self-confidence and even make you more popular socially—all huge benefits of wearing braces!
