Monel 400 Forgings

Precipitation hardening fasteners known as Monel 400 Forgings are created from copper-nickel alloy with the addition of titanium and aluminium. High tensile strength and higher corrosion resistance can be found in Monel 400 forgings.

This solid-solution nickel-copper alloy can only be made harder through cold working. It is resistant to various corrosive conditions and has good strength and toughness over a broad temperature range.

Since the alloy becomes extremely soft at high temperatures, forging is a fairly straightforward operation. It is possible to forge metal between 2150 °F (1175 °C) and 1200 °F (650 °C), with the lower temperatures resulting in stronger mechanical characteristics and finer grain size. Never heat the material to a temperature higher than 2150°F (1176°C).

A single-phase, solid-solution nickel-copper alloy called Alloy 400 provides outstanding resistance to a variety of corrosive conditions over a wide temperature range, from below zero to 800°F. Only cold working, not heat treatment, may make this alloy harder. This alloy’s Curie Temperature is within the range of ambient temperatures and is influenced by changes in the chemical makeup of the alloy. In applications where significant nonmagnetic qualities are sought, caution is suggested. The proportion of copper to nickel in alloy 400 is remarkably similar to that of the ore from which the metal was extracted. This alloy was invented for the first time over a century ago and is still one of the most widely used corrosion-resistant alloys made today.

The Monel 400 Forged Socket Weld Fittings give protection against dangerous elements like fire and water leaks and are typically used with smaller diameter pipes. After that, there are numerous threading sizes available for the Monel 400 Forged Threaded Fittings, all of which provide airtight connections. Locations, where four pipes converge, use Monel 400 Forged Cross. They are constructed to withstand the different fluid pressures that may be applied to the pipe fittings.
