You can alter the firewall settings, change the DNS server IP address, and reconnect the modem or router. These options will surely aid you in resolving the issue and gaining access to QuickBooks Online. Let’s look at ways to fix 504 gateway time-out error in detail:-

Solution 1- Go Through Your Proxy Server Settings

Checking the proxy settings is one option to fix the error 504 gateway time-out in QuickBooks Online. This can be done using the Windows Settings menu. All you have to do is open your computer’s Settings programme and go to the Proxy option on the left. You must ensure that the proxy settings are accurate in this case.

Solution 2- Verify Your DNS settings

504 Gateway Time-out failures can also be caused by DNS difficulties on the server or client-side (or both). One of the most prevalent causes is the FQDN’s (fully qualified domain name) failure to fix IP addresses or an unresponsive DNS server. It usually happens after you’ve moved your WordPress website to a different server or host. As a result, you must wait for the domain’s DNS records to propagate completely, which could take up to 24 hours. These are the steps you need to follow:-

  • Press the Windows Start button and open the Control panel.
  • Then select Network and Internet from the options.
  • Tap on Network and Sharing Center.
  • Click on the Change adapter Settings button.
  • Select the connection that you prefer for DNS.
  • Then go to the Networking tab.
  • Click on ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ under the ‘This connection uses the following items’ section.
  • Tap on the Properties option and go to the Advanced tab.
  • Click on the DNS tab and note down if any IP address is mentioned there. Once noted, you need to delete it and click on OK.
  • Select the option to use the DNS server addresses listed below. If any IP addresses appear in the “Alternate DNS server” or “Preferred DNS server” fields, make a note of them in case you need them again.
  • Replace these addresses with the IP addresses of Google DNS servers:
    • IPv6: 2001:4860:4860::8888 and/or 2001:4860:4860::8844.
    • IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4.
    • IPv6-only: Instead of using IPv6 addresses, you can use Google Public DNS64.

So now this has been all about QuickBooks 504 Gateway Time-Out. There can be other ways to fix this error, such as changing firewall settings and reloading the page. If you are unable to fix the error, reach out to an expert at +1(855)-738-0359 and they will guide you on how to fix it.
