Lighting is a very important part of any interior design, as, without it, the house wouldn’t be in its glory. Lighting not only enhances the colour pallet of the house but also gives it a modern and elegant look. Today interior planning is a niche exercise that is undertaken by highly skilled professionals. Everybody wants their home to look luxurious, attractive, roomy, and elegant, which can be achieved by a proper colour and f lighting scheme.

Although this looks  easy, it is very challenging to balance the light with the colour pallet of the house to achieve the right look. Both the aspects, light and colour have their separate colour temperatures, and if one does not pay enough attention to it, even a lovely house with beautiful colour interiors can look pale in comparison to its higher potential. Therefore this is why balancing both light and colour for a house is extremely important.

So what are the lighting tips that can help one match the colour scheme of the house?

Consider Colour Schemes

Colour scheming in aspects, light and colour, is very important as they have a direct impact on the appearance and overall vibe of the house. So if the colour pallet of the house is warm, then maybe one can play a bit around with the lighting by using a neutral light, but one has to keep in mind not to use the extreme so that it doesn’t conflict with the colour pallet.

To maintain a flow

The colour pallet and lighting should maintain a flow among each other. The house’s colours and design styles come out more enhanced if a flow is maintained between them.

Be Cohesive

Both the lighting and the colour should be cohesive, walking alongside side by side so that it maintains the style and elegance of the house and all the while complimenting each other.

Coordination

A thorough coordination must be maintained among these 2 spheres with the colours beautifying a dull house and the lights enhancing it. They should coordinate with each other well and not be opposite their temperatures. For example, if the colour temperature of the room is warm, one cannot put a cool temperature light in that room. This would create no coordination among the pallet and make the room, although having beautiful colours and designs look uneasy to the eye.

These are some of the main lighting tips that can enhance the colour scheme of a house.

There are more lighting tips than one should know with concern to their houses.
  • In the living room, no matter what the colour scheme is, the light should be illuminating and ambient. The environment should be that it creates an ambience for people to gather and stay for a long time.
  • In a dining room, usually, the preferred colour scheme is neutral, while the lighting of the area is ambient and a bit elaborate on the type of lights. This is done to give a sense of grandeur to the dining space to make it look simple and beautiful at the same time.
  • In a bedroom, with its colour temperature varying from warm to cool, according to whichever scheme the owner chooses. Lighting, on the other hand, in the bedroom is not very heavy. This is so because bedrooms do not require heavy lighting and can fare with a minimal source of light.
  • In a kitchen, the colour scheme is usually observed to be neutral, while the lighting is supposed to be heavy. This is done so that the kitchen gets the look of a simple and not an elaborate space. The lighting in the kitchen is heavy to help find all the necessary things from places like under the sink, cabinet, platform etc. Therefore the kitchen can use heavy lighting to avoid accidents from occurring.
  • In a bathroom, the colour scheme is supposed to be cool or neutral, usually with a lot of heavy lighting. The lighting needs to be heavy here for clean purposes.

Therefore lighting is extremely necessary for any space to enhance its value of the said space. Different types of lighting can be used like LED downlights, LED Lights for home, LED tube lights, LED Canopy lights etc., to help with the colour scheme of the space.
