If you are in the construction industry, then you know that a lot of pieces of equipment go into making a project successful. However, there are probably some pieces of equipment you didn’t know about. According to the National Construction Equipment Association, many construction workers are not familiar with all the available equipment. Here are four pieces of construction equipment you may not be familiar with.

Backhoes

Backhoes are one of the most versatile pieces of construction equipment. They can be used for various tasks such as excavating, trenching, and hauling. Backhoes are also very maneuverable, which makes them perfect for tight spaces. A backhoe is a perfect tool for the job if you need to dig a hole or move some earth. Many backhoes also have attachments that can be used for other tasks, such as snow removal or landscaping.

Bulldozers

A bulldozer is a large, heavy machine that pushes dirt and other materials. Bulldozers have a large blade on the front of the machine that is used to push the material. The blade can be adjusted to different angles to make it easier to push the material. When the blade is not being used, it can be used as a plow to push snow. A recent study found that only 58 percent of construction workers were familiar with bulldozers.

Microtrenching Machine

A micro trenching machine is a small, compact machine that is used to dig narrow trenches. Micro trenches are typically less than six inches wide and can be up to several feet deep. They are often used for fiber optic or other cable installation. They are very maneuverable and can be used in tight spaces. In addition, several microtrenching equipment manufacturers offer machines that one person can operate. This makes them perfect for small construction projects. They are helpful for preparing land for your construction project. It will make sure the soil is safe to build on.

Rollers

Rollers are another versatile piece of construction equipment. They can be used to compact soil, asphalt, and other materials. Rollers come in various sizes, from small walk-behind rollers to large ride-on rollers. The size of the roller will determine how much weight it can compact. For example, a small walk-behind roller can compact soil or asphalt that is up to four inches thick. In contrast, a large ride-on roller can compact material up to 12 inches thick.

These are just a few of the many pieces of construction equipment available. If you are unfamiliar with the equipment, be sure to ask your supervisor or another experienced worker. With their help, you can learn about all the different construction equipment types and how to use them.
